"How Do I Avoid Rutting And Sinking of Paving
Stones In My Driveway?"
Rutting and sinking of paving stones is caused by inadequate
base construction and/or poor installation. If you have a weak
foundation under your house, it will sag and lean, or even
collapse. The same holds true for your driveway. If the subgrade
soil of your property is sand or gravel, then a well-graded
and compacted base of crushed road gravel, will provide good support. On the other hand, if your subgrade is clay, then
usually a gravel constructed base is not good enough. In this situation we use a lean concrete base material that we call "No Rut Base". This provides a superior base that controls moisture and the pumping of the subgrade.
